New president set to lead Mareeba Rotary

IT was celebrations all round for Mareeba Rotary at their annual changeover, held at the Mareeba Turf Club on Saturday July 1.
The club farewelled 2016-17 president Stephen Gear and welcomed in new 2017-18 president, local Chiropractor Matt Jacob.
Stephen Gear reflected on a big and successful year for the local organisation and thanked all the hard working Rotarians for their tireless efforts, especially with the 2017 Rotary FNQ Field Days.

Lenore Wyatt, Secretary David Kempton, Treasurer Stephen Gear, Membership and Club Trainer Joe Moro, Public Relations
Natasha Srhoj, Administration Bronwyn Dwyer, Rorary Foundation Nina Grant, Community Services Kevin Davies and President Elect Margaret
For their dedication, not only to Rotary but the local community, several awards were also handed out on the day. Rotarian of the year went to Charlie
Martens, while James Howe and Pietro Girgenti were named Paul Harris Fellows with Maree Lopez awarded her second (sapphire) Paul Harris Fellow.
In his welcoming address, President Matt Jacob thanked Stephen and his team for an outstanding Rotary year, while outlining his vision for the club.
“It is that sense of fellowship, trust and mutual drive to make a difference in our community that has not only kept me in Rotary, but has inspired me to
lead Rotary this year,” said Mr Jacob.
“This is my vision for the club – To create a signature project for Mareeba Rotary, to work closely with other Rotary Clubs on mutual projects, improve
the health, both physical and mental, of our community and to engage with those in our community who are taking the world by storm through innovative business.”
